Women in business on the Sunshine Coast will be recognised for their creative entrepreneurial efforts at a business expo at 5pm on November 27 at council’s Venue 114, formerly known as Lake Kawana Community Centre.

The USC and the Queensland Government have partnered to organise the Women to Women (W2W) Business Expo, which will showcase local female businesses that have been identified for being innovative in the arts, service and food industry.

Hosted by the USC’s International Development Division, the event ties in with the #WEALTHSERIES program, an ongoing female entrepreneur development series organised in partnership with Advance Queensland.

Manager of the USC’s Global Projects Program Tami Harriott said women often experienced different roadblocks such as lack of confidence and financial acumen in a space often dominated by males.

“The key purpose of this expo is to feature the diversity of networks that women can tap into as a platform of revenue,” she said.

“These selected vendors have channelled their creative flair into handcrafted products, which also serves to showcase the inventive talent that thrives here on the Coast.

“We’re inviting women to come and support their fellow sisters in business through this event, which also facilitates an opportunity for networking, inspiration and future collaborations.

“The event will also launch the W2W networking platform, which will serve as a pathway for women to grow their business and form connections in a supportive space.”

Tami said USC will also lend support to other Queensland Government initiatives aimed at advancing women in business including the Mentoring for Growth Program and the effort to have more women appointed to boards, an initiative led by the Office for Women.

“We anticipate a great evening of fun and networking as we launch W2W -- an online platform where women can grow their business and form connections in a supportive space,” she said.

“The W2W Expo is aimed to foster a platform of connectivity and networking.”
